Dan Dodge is a Canadian computer engineer and entrepreneur who is best known as the founder and former CEO of QNX Software Systems. QNX is an operating system that is used in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, defense, and medical. Under Dodge's leadership, QNX became a leader in the embedded systems market.
Dodge earned a degree in computer engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. After graduation, he worked for several technology companies before founding QNX in 1980. He sold the company to Harman International Industries in 2004 but remained as the CEO until 2010.
After leaving QNX, Dodge founded BlackBerry QNX, a subsidiary of BlackBerry Limited that develops software for autonomous vehicles and other embedded systems. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Waterloo Engineering Endowment Fund, which provides funding for engineering education and research at the University of Waterloo.
Dodge has received numerous awards for his contributions to the technology industry, including the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance Award in 1996 and the Developer.com Product of the Year Award in 2000. He is considered a pioneer in the field of embedded systems and is widely respected for his technological expertise and business acumen.
